A Clean Sweep for Loebsack
Iowa newspapers go 6 for 6 in favor of Dave’s reelection
Iowa City, IA – With the Election Day just four days away, the momentum is clearly going in Dave Loebsack’s direction. This morning’s endorsement from the Burlington Hawkeye means six out of six major newspapers covering Iowa’s Second District have come out in favor of Dave continuing to fight for the people of Iowa. Loebsack will carry this momentum over the weekend when he is out meeting with Iowan’s as part of his Middle Class First tour and into Election Day.
Samples of the endorsements are below.
Cedar Rapids Gazette (10/19)
“The 24-county area that now comprises Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District has been well served by mild-mannered Dave Loebsack. Given his continued history of working on behalf of constituents and bipartisanship, we can find no impetus for change. We applaud his work with the Sectors bill, which was passed as part of the Workforce Reinvestment Act and provides job-skill training tailored to community and regional needs.”
Des Moines Register (10/22)
“Iowa has a tradition of sending people to Congress who are quietly but persistently devoted to improving the lives of the people in their districts rather than pursuing a personal ideological agenda. Dave Loebsack has served in that tradition, and he deserves a fifth term.”
University of Iowa Daily Iowan (10/27)
“Iowa needs a representative with a vested interest in the affairs of the state and realistic plans that will actually benefit the people of Iowa. Miller-Meeks has relied on attempting to discredit the incumbent and blaming Washington. It is true that Congress has become a bastion of conflicting interests, and a candidate with experience and demonstrated willingness to traverse this landscape will benefit the people of Iowa the most in the long run. David Loebsack is the best candidate to represent Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District, and he should be elected for a fifth term.”
Iowa City Press-Citizen (10/28)
“Iowa’s Second District would benefit from having Loebsack remain in Washington to fight aggressively on flood relief and recovery, to help to protect veterans and to continue looking after Iowa’s interests.
“Loebsack has earned a fifth term in Congress, and we urge our readers to vote for him.”
Quad-City Times (10/29)
“Four times, Rep. Dave Loebsack has won voter support over strong Republican challengers, including two wins over Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
“That enduring support is for a congressman who seems to make our Quad-Cities his home, and not just during campaign season. Loebsack’s work ethic, passion for collaboration and carefully cultivated Q-C connections make him our choice to represent Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District.”
Burlington Hawkeye (10/31)
“First and foremost, we want our member of the United States House of Representatives to respond to our needs. If we’re having issues with the Social Security Administration in getting our monthly checks or the Veterans Administration Hospital isn’t responding to our needs, we need someone in government to help us. That’s the job of a representative.
“And Dave Loebsack and his team have delivered. He wants to keep the job for another two years and hasn’t done anything we can see to warrant kicking him out of office.”
